Kafayat Shafau popularly known by her stage name Kaffy,is a Nigerian dancer, choreographer, dance instructor and fitness coach.  She is best known for breaking the Guiness World Record for “Longest Dance Party” at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006.

Unbeknownst to many, Kaffy struggled deeply with being overweight terribly in her youth. At the age of 20 she used to be a size 16, and admits that physical weight is nothing compared to the mental, emotional, psychological weight you carry when you don’t feel beautiful in your own skin.


Being a product of a broken home, Kaffy was subject to fending for herself at a very early age. In her own words she said: I ate for quantity and not for quality, and this added to my weight gain, as well as the psychological and emotional trauma of trying to be successful as a dancer in a country where it is not accepted culturally, economically, and socially as a viable career option.


She pioneered Dance Fitness in Nigeria because unlike every other fitness programme, dance has a great ability to eradicate emotional strongholds as it is a tool for detoxifying and releasing bad energy.
